I am very lucky to say I have been involved in a lot of memorable games over the years.

I am also fortunate that I have the medals to prove it as a player and a manager with some great clubs.

The Concord Rangers v Barkingside game has been done to death in this column so all I will add to it is that captaining that Concord side was a proud moment in my life.

Playing at Chatham in 2005 when I was with for Great Wakering was a surreal day.

It was the final day of the season, we needed to win and Erith had to lose by two or more. That was the only way we would avoid relegation.

For so long it looked like it wasn’t to be but Danny Scopes scored with a great header and then we defended for our lives in the last 15 minutes, knowing that Erith were two goals down at Wivenhoe.

To avoid relegation on the last day was an amazing feeling of elation and relief. Grown men were reduced to tears that day.

For purely selfish reasons one of my other memorable matches was losing 6-5 to Potters Bar Town in November 2010, again for Wakering.

Somehow I managed to score all five goals. The fifth put us 5-4 up with 10 minutes left and bizarrely we conceded two in the final few minutes to give up the win.

The other most memorable match was the second round proper of the FA Cup in December 2011, playing for Redbridge against Crawley Town.

To play an FA Cup tie against a then big spending Football League side was brilliant.

We lost 5-0 and I gave away a penalty, but to have that experience when you believe it has passed you by in your career was truly unbelievable.

We played well that day and 5-0 flattered them. It was 2-0 after 86 minutes.

The only regret from that day is that ITV had rights to the FA Cup instead of the BBC. We had some coverage and a five minute slot on the highlights show, but nothing like the exposure that a Isthmian North side would have now for reaching that stage of the competition.
