HARRY Wheeler was full of praise for his side after Billericay Town claimed the Isthmian Premier League title.
Goals from Joe Kizzi and Adam Cunnington allowed Town to secure a 2-0 win over Harlow Town in front of a raucous AGP Arena crowd.
And Wheeler, who will lead Billericay in the National League South next season, was delighted for his players.
Wheeler said: “I’m proud and relieved.
“People would say it was a given that we would win the title but they don’t understand how tough it has been this season.
“There have been a lot of off-field issues, but the lads have been unbelievable.
“They’re proper men and great characters. That has carried us all the way to the end.
“The lads are always confident and they’re an unbelievably talented group.
“They stuck together, as a team, and that’s what got them through it.
“No one can take that away from the players.”
