SOUTHEND United's poor start to the League One season continued with a 4-1 defeat at Leeds United.
The Shrimpers went into the final five minutes level at 1-1, only for three late goals to floor them in the closing stages.
Steve Tilson's men would have been hopeful of securing their first point of the season when Adam Barrett equalised Alan Thompson's third-minute opener with 20 minutes remaining.
However, Denis Wise's men had other ideas and late strikes from Tore Andre Flo, Rui Marques and Jermaine Beckford left the Essex side pointless and only off the bottom of the table due to the Yorkshire side's 15 point pre-season penalty.
