FRANK Aylott's Captain's week at the Lords Golf and Country Club (Rayleigh) was well supported.

On the Earls Course the Stableford saw Dorothy Neill beating Madge Sodeau on the back nine when both returned with 33 pts. George Burgess took the men's Stableford with a score of 43 ahead of Doug Ayling and Pat Packer, who both returned 38.

In the cadet section the winner was Robert Kurn ahead of Sam Wheeler.

On the Duke course the cadet section was won by Harry Smith ahead of Kaine Moseley.

The Duke Ladies Tuesday competition was won by Rose Murphy with Mary Priest coming a close second, but taking the nearest the pin prize Next it was the turn of the vets and five-day members.

Nearest the pin was won by Les Francis with John Marchant having the longest drive Winner of the competition was Dave South ahead of Andy Little.

Saturday's men's competition was won by Colin Mitchell ahead of Bob Dowsett. Martin Hardy took nearest the pin.

Sunday saw the finale of a fantastic week of competitions with over 120 golfers taking part Winner of the ladies was Sheila Norton ahead of Angela Hever, who also took nearest the pin on both the 17th and fifth holes.

Nearest the pin in two on the 14th was won by Tony Brown, who holed his second shot.

Nearest the pin in three on the par five sixth was Darren Lowe.

Winner of the Captain's Cup for 2007 was Jake Anthony with 43 points ahead of Darren Lowe, who had 41.

Also during this week of competitions money was raised for a Brian Hughes Cup in memory of a well respected former captain who died of cancer.
