Chris Powell wants to win the battle of Southend United’s two most successful ever left-backs tomorrow.
Powell takes his Shrimpers side to face Justin Edinburgh’s Leyton Orient in their final pre-season friendly of the summer.
And Powell is eager to secure victory.
“It will be a good game and a good test, but hopefully it will end with a good Southend win too,” said the Blues boss.
“I actually came to Southend to replace Justin after he left and he’s someone I’ve always got on well with when I’ve seen him socially or at games.
“I think this will be the first time we’ve actually met as managers and I’m looking forward to it.”
Both Powell and Edinburgh went on to spend several seasons in the Premier League after leaving the Shrimpers.
