FORMER Southend United striker Freddy Eastwood has set his sights on toppling Germany after making a "dream" debut against Bulgaria.

The forward, who hails from Basildon, scored the winner in Bourgas on Wednesday.

And he hopes his performance has ensured his place to face Germany in next month's Euro 2008 qualifier.

"That's the big game and hopefully I've impressed enough to play some part," said Eastwood who spent three seasons with the Shrimpers before moving to Wolverhampton Wanderers for £1.5million during the summer.

"I always felt I was good enough to play for my country, but to score on my debut is a dream come true."

Eastwood looked comfortable in attack, despite the leading the line on his own with Derby County's Rob Earnshaw among the substitutes.

"It's been a good week because I also scored in two games for Wolves and it was nice to cap it off by scoring a goal for my country," he said.

"It was tough playing on my own up front, it's the first time I've ever played in that role.

"But I think I coped quite well and adapted to the role, and overall as a team I thought we did well.

"This was a great win for us, but we have to build on it and continue to progress."

Eastwood's performance received glowing praise from Wales manager John Toshack.
