GREAT Wakering Rovers boss Iain O'Connell knows his side face a difficult task in trying to recover from their bad start over the Bank Holiday weekend.

They follow tomorrow''s trip to Bury Town by hosting newly-promoted Essex Senior League champions Brentwood Town on Monday (3pm).

Both oppositions, unlike Rovers who have lost both games so far, are unbeaten.

Brentwood have started life at Ryman Division One North level with two straight wins, while Bury have a win and draw to their name.

Said O'Connell: "We're all bitterly disappointed with the start.

"We should have beaten Waltham Forest at home last weekend, but we gave away three bad goals.

"Then, on Monday at Aveley, we were awful. I'd rate it our worst performance since I've been here.

"But even then we had chances. I'd just like to think that it was one of those days.

"A lot of opposing managers who saw us that night told me we're better than that and I hope they're right.

"These next two games will be tough, but I'm glad we've got Nikki Beale available before he starts his suspension next week after being sent off in the first game.

"He was one of the few to show any heart at Aveley."

O'Connell will have Mark Cartlidge available after his return from holiday in the United States while he's also captured experienced left-sided midfielder Justin Gentle on a month's loan.
