SOUTHEND United defender Harry Lennon is facing a month on the sidelines with a fractured toe.

Lennon picked up the injury on his debut against Doncaster Rovers on the opening day of the season.

And Blues boss Chris Powell does not expect the 23-year-old to be back in action until September.

“Harry is in a boot and he will be out for three to four weeks,” said Powell.

“Hopefully by then he will have had some progression with his toe.

“I’m hoping he’s a quick healer but there’s a definite fracture and he’s going to have more consultation on Thursday.”

Lennon joins winger Sam Barratt on the sidelines but Blues have yet to discover the extent of his knee injury.

“Sam will have more consultation on his knee later on this week,” said Powell.

“He’s resting his knee this week and we will get the full extent of the injury soon.”

Barratt will miss Tuesday night's match with Brentford, along with Luke Hyam.

The midfielder is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and will not be risked against the Bees.

“Luke isn’t available,” said Powell.

“We’re mindful that we have a lot of games coming up.”
