CONFUSION surrounds the future of Harry Wheeler with Billericay Town believed to be in talks to reinstate their former manager.
Wheeler is understood to have been dismissed by owner Glenn Tamplin shortly before the conclusion of Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Chippenham Town - their first loss of the season.
Wheeler, appointed full-time manager at the start of the campaign having led Town to three trophies last term, was not in the dugout as Billericay came from behind to beat St Albans City 3-2 yesterday.
The Echo now understands that, following a backlash since the announcement, Tamplin remains in talks with Wheeler about his position.
Assistant head coach Danny Hazle says a statement will be released in the next 48 to 72 hours.
Tamplin and Wheeler have been unavailable for comment.
