ECHOSPORT talks to Woking fan Alisdair Tan ahead of Saturday's match with Southend United.

Woking are 14th in the table. What have you made of the season so far?

"On the back of one of our best seasons ever, hope was high that Darren Sarll could continue his knack for grinding out results that carried us to the play-offs.

"Unfortunately his poor recruitment over the summer let us down with many players suffering from injuries on top of everything.

"Losses to Ramsgate in the FA Cup and Oxford City sealed his fate.

"Michael Doyle's appointment surprised many at first but he has managed to steer the ship to safety."

How have things changed since the appointment of Michael Doyle and what has been behind the recent good run of form?

"Michael Doyle has made a handful of astute signings with his wealth of contacts from his career including some youth and some experience since joining and it has taken time for his strategy to be fully implemented by the players.

"Now everyone seems to be singing from the same hymn sheet and the results have followed."

Do you think you're now safe or do you still see yourself in a fight to stay up?

"A few weeks back many fans would have told you we haven't a hope to stay up.

"It culminated in an away loss to Ebbsfleet with a particularly dire performance.

"However this seemed to be just the motivation for all the players as since then Woking have won four drawn one and lost just one, that being a narrow 2-1 result to a plucky Rochdale side."

Who have been the best players this season and who would you say is the dangerman?

"Ricky Korboa and recent addition Charley Kendall have been dangerous up front, particularly in the injured absence of previous prolific scorers Rhys Browne and Reece Grego-Cox.

"Veteran defender Scott Cuthbert has been excellent coordinating our solid defence, including being seen coaching from the sidelines at times!"

What's the team news?

"Doyle has slowly been finding his favoured starting 11.

"Will Jaaskelainen has been sharp in front of goal, and defence includes work horses such as Dan Moss and longtime Cardinal Josh Casey.

"Highly experienced midfielder Curtis Edwards coordinates the centre of the park, feeding players such as dangerman Kendall mentioned.

"In the past few hours it's been announced Michael Doyle has brought in veteran Irish attacking midfielder Alan Judge on a deal until the end of the season, which will only go to help the team keep picking up points for the remainder of the season.
