SOUTHEND United remain in contract talks with Gus Scott-Morriss and Wes Fonguck.

The duo remain the only first team regulars not to agree new deals since the consortium, headed up by Justin Rees, began funding the club.

But Blues boss Kevin Maher is still keen to get the situation sorted.

“It’s still ongoing with that and we’d like to get stuff done,” said Maher.

“That’s not changed.”

The Shrimpers do still have a year’s option on both Scott-Morriss and Fonguck, who are flat-mates.

However, discussions are continuing Midfielder Fonguck has made 73 appearances since joining Blues in the summer of 2022 having previously been with Barnet.

Right wing-back Scott-Morriss has become a key performer after also joining before the start of last season and has now played 75 games for the club.
