SAM Cox is certain Wealdstone will stay up - if they can continue to repeat the level of their performance against Southend United.

Stones were beaten 2-1 by Blues on Tuesday night in Cox's first match as interim manager.

But the 33-year-old was encouraged by many aspects of the display.

"If the boys show signs of that level of performance from now until the end of the season I think we're going to be OK," Cox told the club's YouTube channel.

"We can take huge positives from the way they've reacted to the defeat to Boreham Wood and the manner in which we were beaten too.

"It shows exactly what we spoke about, wanting a reaction and wanting to fight for the badge.

"They've shown me enough in the performance.

"It's a disappointing result and we know we need points on the table because these next four games are massive for us.

"But if we can produce the same level of effort endeavour on Thursday we'll be OK."

Wealdstone sit just above the drop zone on goal difference and host second from bottom Dorking Wanderers on Thursday night.
