SOUTHEND United’s slight play-off hopes are still alive after Halifax Town dropped points tonight.

Halifax drew 0-0 with Ebbsfleet United and remain seventh – the final play-off position – one place and two points clear of the Shrimpers.

Halifax do still have a game in hand on Blues and that will be played against 10th placed Oldham Athletic at Chesterfield’s SMH Group Stadium on Thursday due to the state of the pitch at the Shay.

Ninth placed Aldershot Town – who are level on points with Southend – play their game in hand at Gateshead on Wednesday evening.

Saturday’s action sees Blues host Rochdale, Halifax go to Eastleigh, Aldershot travel to Dagenham and Oldham are at home to Wealdstone.
