CHRISTIAN Lett is the new man charged by the Essex County FA with boosting football coaching in the county.
Lett has replaced Andy Edmunds at the county headquarters in Chelmsford as the Essex FA community football coach.
His brief will be to help deliver quality football sessions throughout Essex as part of the association’s strategy for 2008 to 2012.
“I jumped at the chance to become a full-time coach with the ECFA as I’ve been working part-time at the Cornwall County FA for the last two years, and, with opportunities few and far between, the chance to go full-time in Essex was more than welcome,” said Blackburn Rovers fan Lett, who was a semi-professional player at Truro City FC.
“At Cornwall I worked with their Girls’ Centre of Excellence for six months and ran the adult female Representative Side for a season.
“I am mostly looking forward to working in a different part of the country in a diverse role such as this one.
“I’ve been involved with football from a young age and always wanted a full-time job either coaching, playing or managing teams.”
Lett’s role will be hands-on and will see him working on the county FA’s strategy targets, including school-club links, leagues at a central venue and school festivals.
He will also work closely with ECFA’s girls’ and women’s development officer Emma Burden Edmunds recently left ECFA to take up a post in the FA Tesco Skills team which works with five to eleven-year-olds in Essex.
