A BOGEY five at the penultimate hole of his sixth and final round has cost Thorpe Hall tournament pro Richard McEvoy the chance of rejoining the sport's superstars on the full European Tour.

The Shoebury golfer, playing in the Tour's qualifying school final stage in Girona, Spain, shot a 108-hole total of 425 to finish joint 33rd with a five under par total.

But, with playing cards for the 2008/09 campaign going only to the top 30 and ties, McEvoy, 29, missed out by a shot.

That means that he will now return to the secondary Challenge Tour, with that bogey at the 17th at the PGA Golf de Catalunya complex being a hole that will live in his memory for ever as four players on six under tied for 29th spot - and he would have joined them but for that late lapse.
