WESTCLIFF Lawn II moved themselves into the thick of the Men’s Division Three promotion battle.

Lawn picked up six points from their 4-0 Leigh & Westcliff LTA win away to Rochford II to join leaders Westcliff Hard III and Thorpe Bay IV in the mix.

Simon Ravinet and Derek May defeated Rochford’s Gerard Little and Toby Hill 6-1 6-3 and Lawn took the win with a 6-0 6-0 walkover as the hosts could not field a second pair.

Rayleigh II tightened their grip on Ladies’ Division Two table with a 4-1 win over Hadleigh Park.

Karen Mills and Debra Rose put the visitors in the driving seat with a 6-1 6-1 victory over Park’s Sheelagh Mayhead and Margaret Gabe.

And Judy Barham and Jean Catley wrapped things up with a 6-4 3-6 6-3 win over Linda Bowler and Sue Taylor to put Rayleigh seven points clear at the top.

David Lloyd II moved up into second place in Mixed Division Six courtesy of a 4-0 win away to Crowstone.

Kate Golding and Ken Bateman got the ball rolling with a 6-4 6-4 win over the host club’s Gill Richards and Aron Vandermolen.

Mandy Jackson and David Potter then secured a six-point maximum point haul by beating Liz Sisson and Joel Falken-Smith 6-3 6-1.
