SHRIMPERS chief Steve Tilson was left shocked by referee Gavin Ward’s decision to only book Bristol Rovers keeper Steve Phillips during Saturday’s clash at Roots Hall.
The custodian seemed set to be sent off when he handled a shot from Dougie Freedman outside of his penalty area.
But Ward opted to show the custodian just a yellow card.
“I think myself and 7,000 others were left stunned by that decision,” fumed Tilson.
“He has deliberately handled a shot at goal outside of his penalty area so how is that only a yellow card?
“I just don’t understand it and I think the reaction of the crowd told you what they thought too.”
