1st Round of the East Anglian Cup Tilbury FC 2, Burnham Ramblers 1 THIS twice postponed encounter saw Dockers finally overcome Burnham Rambles in First Round of the Essex Senior League East Anglian Cup.

The game got off to an even start, with both team seeking early opportunities. However, it was the Dockers who edged control playing a tight passing and making the visitors up their work rate.

Tilbury opened the scoring in the 25th minute.

A solo effort from Rashid Kamara opened up the Burnham defence to slot home from just inside the box.

In the 36th minute a Tilbury corner into the box, saw Manlee Brown with a cheeky back heel which just whizzed just wid of the post.

Dockers should have gone two up in the 40th minute when a poor back pass to the visitors keeper, Rob Small, saw Manlee Brown swoop in and - with only Small to beat - the ball was lashed wide of the post.

Dockers secon goal came in the 45th minute. Brown latched onto a long kick out from the Dockers keeper and chipped craftily over the head of the wrong-footed Burnham keeper.

After the restart Tilbury’s keeper was called into action once again.

This time he thwarted a fierce shot from just inside the area, producing a spectacular save to his left.

Tilbury’s Kamara tormented the Ramblers box and rattled the crossbar on one occasion.

Dockers replaced Manlee Brown for Ex Tilbury striker Danny Jones (making his first appearance this season) andin a second substitution Joe Keith went off for Steve Taylor.

However, it was not all Tilbury and the visitors pulled one back, through a poor back pass to Hall which saw a Burnham striker nip in and crush the ball into the net.

Burnham finish strong and gain in confidence, however, the Dockers using their experience to keep things solid at the back to win by 2-1.
