SOUTHEND Rugby Club coach Ben Green wants his side to forget the pressure of their league position when they host Stourbridge tomorrow.
The Seasiders have suffered a catastrophic 13 straight league defeats.
They are currently languishing second from bottom in the table.
But Green wants his troops to concentrate on producing a good performance — while also remaining calm when under pressure.
“I’m confident this is a game we can be competitive in but we have been in most of them this season,” said Green.
“There have only been two or three games where we haven’t been in it this season and we should have won at Stourbridge earlier on in the season.
“We only lost by three points — but we’ve had a few games like that this season and we have to keep our composure in the closing stages and also keep our discipline.
“But most of all we just need to make sure we produce a good performance and focus on that.”
Full-back Andrew Frost, who returned to action at Westcombe Park last weekend after recovering from a shoulder injury, is again fit to play while Chris Green — Bens’ younger brother — will again be figuring in a new position.
“Due to the injuries we had we changed Chris from centre to the back row which is a change I doubt many players have made before,” explained Green senior.
“Physically we knew it wouldn’t be a problem and, to be fair, he’s done very well there and has been one of our better players in the last few games,” he added.
