RYMAN PREMIER: Billericay Town’s joint manager Jason Broom insists that his side must now find consistency if they are to make a realistic late run for the play-offs.

The New Lodge side revived hopes of being involved in the promotion mix with Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Wealdstone.

It was a result that leaves them 12th in the table — but just eight points behind the side filling the vital fifth position with two games in hand.

Broom was keen that nobody write off this team’s chances. He said: “I know a lot of people have written us off, but if we can put a run together now we’re still in with a chance.

“Consistency is something we’ve lacked all season.

“We’ve had good results against teams near the top, those in mid-table, and others struggling, but we’ve failed to do it on a regular basis.”

Tomorrow’s visitors Hastings are fighting for their lives at the wrong end of the table.

But expect tomorrow’s affair to be a real battle as Hastings have won six of their 14 games on opposition territory.

And they will be looking to give Billericay one in the eye.

Paul Shave again misses out through suspension, but it’s expected that Joe Flack and Leon Hunter will be recovered from knocks that forced them to miss the Wealdstone game.

And it’s hoped that Billericay’s top scorer Billy Bricknell will be recovered from the back problem that forced him off in midweek.

Tomorrow’s affair is followed by the eagerly-awaited home clash with Canvey on Tuesday.

l Billericay, Canvey and Great Wakering will join other home sides playing with red footballs tomorrow as part of stationery sponsors Ryman’s efforts to raise £500,000 towards next week’s Red Nose Day.
