FORMER England and Southend United manager Peter Taylor was the guest of honour at Rochford All Stars’ medal presentations which was held in the Rochford Congregational Church.

The team, who welcome players of all standards for their under nine, 12 and 16s teams were delighted Taylor took time out of his busy schedule to come back to the town where he was born and grew up.

He spoke of his childhood living in The Drive and training on the recreational ground.

Taylor, who recently guided Wycombe Wanderers from promotion out of League Two, had been a part of the Boys Brigade at the church and renewed acquaintances from those days as well answering a number of questions.

The All Stars players all received medals and had individual photographs taken with Taylor.

The club enjoyed another good year with the under 16s team winning the league and cup double in the football league of churches.

The audience were also presented with an audio visual presentation from the church ministers Rev David Saunders and Rev Andrew Leach about the reason why the church involves itself in a football programme.

The Rochford All Stars welcome any players who wish to join them next season.
