HOCKLEY Kestrels flew away with the top prize when the Southend League staged their cup finals at Deanes School, Thundersley.

Kestrels won the Division One Cup with a 43-38 success over SWF Hullbridge, but at least the losers had the satisfaction of providing the player of the match, the award going to Hullbridge wing attack Abby Williams.

The Division Two Cup was a similar story. Victory went to Star Onyx, 58-34 over Tiger Lillies, but the losing side’s goal shooter Julie Jones was named star player.

Lady Blues completely dominated the Division Three Cup and crushed Sanders 42-11 with the winning outfit’s Zoe Daniels the top performer.

The Southend League’s presentation dance is on May 29 at the Arlington Rooms, Leigh, with England international Louisa Brownfield handing out the prizes.
