FINANCIAL director Neil Adams cashed in at Rochford Hundred’s Sunday May medal.

He fired a gross two under par 69 to take division one quite comfortably from ex-Southend United soccer ace Tony Hadley.

Adams shot 14 pars and three birdies in his 69-4=65 to earn a one shot handicap cut.

Hadley also came down one after his 69-2=67 — 10 pars plus five birdies. Eleven pars and a brace of birdies saw Tony Rosen (74-6=68) take third place.

Rick Napper (79-11=68) cruised to victory in division two thanks to nine pars and a birdie.

He finished in front of Mick Jameison (79-14=71) who edged out three players for second place on countback.

Jameison parred eight holes to push John Harvey (85-14=71) into third spot.

There were some good scores in division three with Archibald Walker's 87-20=67 taking the honours from Steve Hill (89-20=69) and Chas Gore (98-27=71).

Walker enjoyed four pars and a couple of birdies while highlights for Hill were five pars and a birdie. But a triple and five double bogeys spoilt his card.

Ray Weidner continued his fine form in Rochford's midweek Stableford competition to qualify for the Scott Spencer final.

Weidner, who plays off five, followed up his win last week with another success thanks to 40 points - a very consistent 15 pars and a birdie. Second place was claimed by Tom Wilson on 39 points, pipping Tony Rosen on countback.

Twelve handicapper Wilson notched eight pars and a birdie.

Rochford's cadets got their Essex Youth Shield campaign off to a flying start with a 5-0 win over St Clere's Hall.

Arthur Leonard beat Luke Donovan 5 and 4 while Craig Loxton chipped and putted superbly to come in 6 and 5 over Kris Keeley.

The other matches were closer with Luke Fraser seeing off Luke Brown 3 and 2 and Sam Welsh just getting the better of Sam Humphries 2 and 1.

Rochford Ladies held their Ping Fourball Betterball Stableford with Chris Woods and June Jennings winning with 40 points - one better than lady captain Sue Proctor and Margaret Brockes.

Victory in Rochford's Allen Cup went to Terri Stanley on 41 points - just nipping in ahead of Penny Kidgell on countback.
