Division One: Westcliff travelled to West Essex and lost by 56 runs.

Nicholas Tredgold took 4-61 and Peter Shaw 3-38 as Westcliff bowled their hosts out for 219, with Miftha Islam contributing 89.

Tredgold completed a good performance by top scoring with 67 as Westcliff replied with 163-7. Paul Griffiths was the biggest threat with 5-59.

Division Two: Leigh on Sea moved to within three points of Hadleigh & Thundersley after their 35-4un home victory over second-placed Loughton.

Vic Hewitt hit an unbeaten 72 as Leigh posted 213-6 and then saw Jack Power live up to his surname by taking 5-54 as Loughton were bowled out for 178, with only M Woodhaten (54) prospering.

Hadleigh travelled to leaders Chelmsford and lost by 56 runs at Chelmer Park.

The hosts posted 246-6declared and saw Micky Burns (98no) anchor their innings, while Riekert van Wyk claimed 3-32 for Hadleigh.

Kevan Jenkinson (43no) and Paul Richer (41) led the run chase but Hadleigh were bowled out for 191 as Neil Raisborough (4-17) got among the wickets.

Basildon & Pitsea got their first win of the season with a four-wicket victory away to Woodford Green.

Steven Ayres shone for Basildon with 6-52 as the hosts were bowled out for 177, with Pallav Bhatt (43) fairing best with the bat.

James Hall (40) and Wayne Morgan (37) were the cornerstones of Basildon’s reply of 181-6 as Joshua Carr and Sachchin Patel took a brace each.

Wickford were held to a draw at home to Ilford after seeing their visitors post 315-1 declared off 38.1 overs.

The hosts responded with 233-6 from 48 overs.

Horndon on the Hill hosted Brentwood IV and were held to a draw.

Ben Sach (46) top scored for the visitors as Richard Jasper (2-32), Adam Towler (2-16) and Micky Steel (2-17) restricted them to 180-7 declared.

Ian Joyce (41), David Towler (33) and Ryan Cutts (31) helped Horndon to 157-7 in reply, while three Brentwood bowlers took two wickets each.

Division Three: Southend on Sea secured their first win of the season with a wickets win at home to Belhus.

Belhus were bowled out for 127 despite the best efforts of Brian Edwards (53) and Darren Frampton (47) as Danny Stannard (3-24) polished off the tail following a brace each for Simon Wray, Aaron Butcher and Jeffrey Wood.

Butcher then top-scored with 45 and Stannard added 37 as Southend replied with 128-6. Edwards (2-27) and Mike Squires (2-18) had most joy with the ball.

Billericay made it four wins on the spin to remain the only team yet to taste defeat following a five-wicket win away to Buckhurst Hill.

Phil Mitchell was the toast of Buckhurst Hill with 54 as they posted 218-9 declared as Paul Walter claimed 3-43.

Graham Greenless (50) and Stephen Ash (47) were the mainstays of Billericay’s reply, which reached 219-5 despite the endeavours of Aadil Baig (2-55) and Alex Williams (2-31).

Benfleet are second after defeating Old Southendian & Southchurch by 11 runs at home.

Alex Brady (33) starred early on and a late 36 not out from Mark Acraman saw Benfleet to 160-8, with Andrew Sanders claiming 4-43 for the Old Boys.

Steve Sayers (48) anchored the Old Southendian reply, with Martyn O’Connor (19), Sanders (17), Nathan Linfield (17) and Morland (16) chipping in until they were bowled out for 149, Sam Handley taking 5-55.
