IT was a frustrating week for Premier Division teams in the Active Southend Evening Cricket League with not one match being played.

Emersons’ match against Spartans A fell foul of the weather — the first cancellation this season due to rain.

And Rankins match against Hadleigh and Thundersley is to be rescheduled for later in the season with the former currently on tour.

Trinity were unable to raise a team to play Eastwood and the match will be played later in the season if possible.

But things were brighter in division One.

Ekco Monarchs & Trojans came out on top in the clash between the two previously unbeaten teams, overcoming Civic Centre by 36 runs.

Put in to bat, Ekco posted 124-2 in their 12-over allocation, with Chris Maher (46 not out), Aaron Irvine (38) and S Hunt (19 not out) leading the way. Both wickets fell to run outs.

Civic Centre were restricted to 98-5 in reply with acting skipper Phil McIntosh hitting 52 and D Colwoll adding 33 not out.

Hockley beat Chequers by seven wickets after scoring 104-3 in 12.1 overs in reply to Chequers’ 102-9 in 15.

Rayleigh Fairview beat Spartans B by nine wickets. Spartans batted first and posted 124-8 in 12 overs with Brooking the top scorer with 62. In reply Russell Sheerman (55 not out) and Dean Stockinger, who was unbeaten on 39, hurried Rayleigh to 125-1 in 10.6 overs.
