THERE was an large turnout at Boyce Hill Ladies who found the course in immaculate condition when guest day was staged.

Apart from entertaining lady captains from Thorpe Hall, Belfairs, Burnham and Romford, guests invited travelled from as far a field as Dorset. Brenda Rogers, with her guest Tina Dye (Romford), won the 18-hole better ball Stable-ford competition with 58 points.

Viv Simmonds and Ivy O’Brien (Channels) were second with 53 with Chris Emerson and Dawn Brown (Thorpe Hall) third on 52.

They won on countback from Maria Barham and Doreen Turner (Puttenham) and Andrea Boyce and Kathy McFarlane-Thompson (Dor-set) who finished fourth and fifth.

Frances Spicer and Jan Breeze (Orsett) won the front nine with 26 to win on countback from Ann Holt and Hoon Locke (Clacton).

Chris Bugden and Lynne Brewin (The Drift) won the back nine with 28. Lynne Brewin won the guest nearest the pin competition on the 18th with Andrea Boyce, continuing with her recent form, winning the members’ prize.

The ladies at Boyce Hill held their Macmillan Stableford competition this week with proceeds going to the MacMillan charity.

The immediate past captain Maria Barham took first place.

In the qualifying Stableford competition, scoring was close in the silver division with Barham winning with 35 points on countback from Louise Daniels and Linda Bonnett, who finished second and third respectively.

The bronze division was won by Hazel Shrimpton with 35 points from Kay Dines, 34. Third place went to Chris Emerson (33) on countback from Iris Balls and Mandy Taylor finishing fourth and fifth.
