DON Smith started his 75th birthday celebrations in style by helping Crowstone to victory.

Don partnered Paul Bundock to a 6-2 6-1 win over Wickford’s Bob Chapman and John Kirk in their The League Division Three fixture, which was played the evening before Don’s birthday.

Maddie Maxwell and Steph Andrews had started things off in fine style for Westcliff-based Crowstone with a 6-4 6-3 win over Pat Baker and Kay Debenham.

Don and Paul’s win ensured a match win for the home team, before the mixed pairing of Christine Tancock and Nigel Andrews beat Wickford’s Sandra Ellis and Ken Ellis 6-4 6-1 to secure a 6-0 scoreline.
