ESSEX wicketkeeper James Foster has set his sights on extending his England career after an impressive showing with the gloves during the World Twenty20.

Foster was picked as a specialist keeper for the competition, despite the England management opting for Matt Prior's more advanced batting in the other forms of the game.

The keeper failed to make a big impression at the crease but was exceptional behind the stumps, with a couple of eye-catching stumpings, including the dismissal of Dwayne Bravo in the make-or-break defeat to the West Indies.

Now the 29-year-old, whose only previous international experience came during England's tour of India in 2001, wants to be involved on a regular basis.

"I think I did okay personally, although probably not quite with the runs that I really would have liked," he said.

"Whether I will play again in future in any sort of format, who knows? But I was just pleased to be involved and I'd love another chance at some stage.

"I think I picked up a few things that I'll take away and try to work on."

"The last couple of weeks has been a lot of fun for me in an environment that I've been dying to be involved in for some time."

England's selectors will name an extended Ashes training squad numbering 16 or 17 on Monday.
