For the first time in the history of the Cold Norton club a cross-country competition was held in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer, lady captain Cecilia Jackaman’s chosen charity.
Sixty-eight golfers supported this event playing in teams of four over a specially designed 10 hole course.
Every hole was sponsored by local companies who donated money to this worthy cause. The players were split into five different groups with the winning teams collecting prizes that had also been donated. The winning teams were - Best ladies: Jenny Wilson, Dot Curtis, Shirley Mendal and Ruth Collins. Best men's: Paul Carabine, Thomas Newson, Matt Walls and Lee Sansom. Best mixed: Jack Smith, Denise Howat, Ben Cox and George Phillip. Best guests: Richard and Nikki Leigh, Keiron Hood and Steve Wise.
Best overall were a team of adets — Alex Bradley, Joe Coules, David Lloyd and Bradley Hyde.
After the competition a raffle and auction took place. A signed Manchester United shirt sold for £270.
There are still donations coming in and the total amount is estimated to be in access of £1,500. The main organisers of the event were Keith and Anne Edgson, Cecilia Jackaman and Craig Lawrence.
