The Benfleet based Tokon Do Karate Union headed towards Cheshunt for the Shikon Karate Open International Kata and Kumite Competition. They took two first places and two seconds in an event which chief instructor Len Norman insisted was of a very high standard.
“This was perhaps the hardest tournament we have had for a long while” said Norman.
Chris Dockerill was first place in Kumite and second in Kata while Shannon McGrory came first in Kata. James Clark came second in Kumite.
Norman added “Apart from the UK contingents there was the Romanian National Squad, the Polish National Squad who performed very well as did the Northern Ireland National Squad. Considering the quality we did very well”.
