RETTENDON marched on in their bid to secure promotion to Division Two with a convincing 105-run win over struggling Navestock.

Batting first, it was not all plain sailing as Rettendon lost the top three batsmen with just 45 on the board.

However it was left to Phil Everitt to steer his side to a reasonably comfortable score of 201 all out in the 44th over by making a determined 70 before being caught in the latter part of the Rettendon innings.

What made his innings look even more impressive in the fact that the second top scorer was J Roworth, who scored 18!

Navestock came out to bat and never really threatened the Rettendon, score losing wickets at regular intervals with paceman Phil Everitt grabbing the first three wickets (3-17 off 8 overs).

It was then a case of the Everitt brothers coming on and cleaning up the rest of the Navestock batsman as they grabbed three wickets a piece.

Martin finishing with figures of 3-19 off five overs and Mark 3-11 off 4.4 to leave Rettendon sitting proudly on top of the Division Three league.

An interesting statistic was of all the 20 wickets to fall, 15 of them were out caught.

Foulness are third in Division Six after being unable to topple top dogs Purleigh at home.

Purleigh set Foulness a victory target of 206 thanks to Ian Stanley (41) and Christian Freegard (38) as they posted 205-8. For Foulness Dan Bunworth took 3-63.

In reply Foulness lost regular wickets and despite 48 from Trevor Nunn and 43 from Cal Patel, crumbled to 171 all out as Elliott, Freegard and Taylor shared the wickets to ensure a 34-run win.

Hockley II are third from bottom, although well clear of the basement clubs, following a 50-run defeat at home to Tillingham II.

Tillingham could only manage a below par 158-7 against Hockley as Butterwick (53) made the only half century of the game.

But the hosts were unable to capitalise as they collapsed to just 108 all out as Cooch took 4-24 for Tillingham.

Rayleigh Fairview II did Hockley II a favour by ensuring it was another miserable day for South Weald II.

South Weald are a place below Hockley and were defeated by eight wickets away to sixth-placed Fairview.

The visitors posted 245-8 but the total was not enough as Fairview romped to 246-2 in reply.
