BLACKBURN Rovers striker Maceo Rigters will play on trial for Southend United against Ipswich Town tonight.

Rigters, 25, is a former Holland under 21 international and has made six appearances for the Premier League outfit's first team.

The forward shot to fame during the 2007 European under 21 championships when he won the Golden Boot award as the tournaments top goalscorer.

That form saw him secure a move to Ewood Park from NAC Breda before enjoying loan spells with Norwich City and Barnsley.

And now Rovers have allowed Rigters to play in this evening's match against Roy Keane's Ipswich Town at Roots Hall.
