WE face our longest away trip of the season this weekend as we head up to Carlisle.

I’m not particularly looking forward to the journey on the Friday but I am looking forward to the game.

Brunton Park is a place I always enjoying playing at and we’re going there in a positive frame of mind.

If we can get a good result there then we would really be in a great position, and we’re confident we can do it.

Carlisle haven’t been in great form just recently and hopefully we can take advantage of that.

I think we will again have the same back four but Anthony Grant did very well at centre-back against Bristol Rovers at the weekend.

It isn’t his natural position but he’s an excellent reader of the game and that certainly helped him in his new role.

I didn’t have to do any more talking than usual but it would be nice if we could get some continuity and consistency with our defence.

It definitely helps when you have that but I have been through quite a few defensive partners already this season.

It’s not ideal but we just have to battle on and keep on giving it our all.

SANTA ADAM AND HIS LITTLE HELPERS

I HAD great fun helping to publicise the Santa Fun Run for Little Havens this week.

I’m heavily involved with the charity and was dressed up as Santa at Roots Hall for a photo shoot.

It wasn’t particularly well timed though as there was a tour of school children going on and they somehow managed to recognise me.

Lee Barnard and Simon Francis were also there but we managed to get them into the picture — as reindeers!

It was hilarious to see because they are a couple of posers if we’re being honest and Barney does love his highlights.

But there they were with reindeer antlers on their heads and flashing red noses while down on their hands on knees worrying about getting their jeans dirty.

I was sitting on top of them both at one stage and I just hope the pictures get used in both the paper and in the programme because they’re great!

GREAT TO GET BACK ON TRACK AT HOME

IT was a fantastic result for us against Bristol Rovers last weekend.

They had been doing very well and got up to fifth in the table, so it was always going to be a difficult game.

But we played well, especially in the first half and I thought we deserved to be 2-0 up.

After that we were under a bit of pressure but I think we played a part in that and invited them onto us by giving the ball away cheaply in bad areas.

That’s something we must learn from and improve on, but the positive thing was the result and getting another win at home having lost our previous two games at Roots Hall.
