SINCE my last column we've had two games – one which was pleasing and one which wasn't.

It was great to finally beat MK Dons last Friday and I thought we produced a fantastic performance in what was another memorable night game at Roots Hall.

A late penalty from Lee Barnard ended our hoodoo and we wanted to take that into the game at Tranmere on Tuesday but unfortunately it wasn't to be.

There wasn't an awful lot in the game and I thought we deserved a point but Tranmere came out winning 2-0.

Their first goal was poor from our point of view as we failed to track the runner and then the second one they got a little bit of luck for so it was disappointing because we had been wanted to get a consistent run going.

It's hard when you don't have a consistent team though and we again had to make a couple of changes at the back against Tranmere.

It's not ideal but we are going to have to do the best we can to bounce from losing when we play against Norwich City next Tuesday.

That will be another huge game against one of the strongest teams in our league but being at home hopefully we can get a good result.

WEEKEND OFF

IT'S the second round of the FA Cup this weekend and that's means we haven't got a game.

We will still be in for training and it's actually my 30th birthday on Sunday as well.

I know it's hard to believe because I look much younger but we will be having a family get together because it's my dad's birthday too.

It will be a nice day but hopefully there won't be too much shopping to be done because I think my wife has already got most of what we need for Christmas!

SINGING UPDATE

SCOTT Malone came in too late for him to have to sing before our game at Tranmere so our young goalkeeper Dan Bentley took his turn.

He got up and did a Akon song (whoever that is!) and he looked very deadpan but at the same time he seemed to be enjoying it even though we were giving him plenty of stick.

Talking of music, Lee Barnard has been very sad this week after getting voted off the X Factor.

We have been trying to console him and have been telling him he will still be able to have a successful singing career.

However, we also found out this week that it is actually Edward from Jedward who has been scoring all of our goals this season, not Barney!
