WE had our Christmas party in Dublin over the weekend and all had a fantastic time together.
Obviously there are a few things I can’t let you know about – but it was a great trip for the team.
One of the main highlights was Scott Malone deciding to come along wearing a white trilby hat.
He thought he looked like Smooth Criminal but to be honest he was more like Mr Whippy and it’s safe to say the hat didn’t fly back home with us.
We didn’t see much of the French boys – Francis Laurent and Jeff (Christophe) – as they were on more of a sight seeing trip it seemed.
We actually saw them come past us on an open top bus and I swear Francis had a pair of binoculars with him!
That gave us a good laugh and so did Simon Francis.
All I’m going to say is that when he finishes playing football he will make an excellent fireman!
It was a brilliant few days and I really don’t see the harm in footballers having a Christmas party.
I know a few high profile managers, including Harry Redknapp, have come out and said otherwise but I think it’s part of our culture.
As long as you’re sensible I don’t see the problem in going away and having a few drinks together.
It also definitely helps the team spirit.
