THE slow thaw currently being experienced in south-east Essex looks like coming too late to save the midweek programme.
Ryman Premier Division club Canvey Island are due to host Division One North visitors Wingate and Finchley in the League Cup, sponsored by Championship Manager, tonight.
And two Division One North League games, Concord Rangers v Tilbury and East Thurrock v Lowestoft, are also scheduled for this evening.
But with playing surfaces still covered in snow, and evening temperatures hovering round the freezing mark, there would appear to be little chance of action going ahead.
Aveley switched their League Cup home clash with AFC Hornchurch from last night to tomorrow evening in the hope that this will give them a better chance of playing.
As reported in yesterday’s Echo, the Essex Senior League has cancelled their entire midweek programme to prevent clubs having to worry about making difficult journeys.
The numbers to ring to check on the possibility of games being played are as follows: >Canvey Island: 01268 682991
>Concord Rangers:01268 515750
>East Thurrock: 01375 644166
>Aveley: 01708 865940.
