IT was a fine debut for Scott Spencer at Huddersfield Town last Saturday — both on and off the pitch.

As you will know from last week’s column, Scott gets a bit of stick from the lads for looking like Screech from the American TV series Saved by the Bell.

And before the game he joined in with the joke by singing the theme tune from the show at our pre-match meal.

Every new signing has to stand up and sing on their first away trip.

And Scott’s performance went down very well.

He hadn’t even heard of the show before we mentioned it so he must have gone onto the internet to learn all the words and it was great.

Scott also did a nice little dance too so it was certainly a good performance.

He did well on the pitch too by coming on to score a late goal for us.

I’m sure that will do wonders for his confidence and hopefully he can go on from here now.

He’s a young lad so we can’t expect too much too soon but it was a certainly a good start for him.

Unfortunately Scott’s strike came too late for us to get something out of the game — but it was a another good performance from us.

I thought we deserved a point and that would have been a great result for us.

We just need to be a bit more ruthless when we get in good areas going forward.

But it’s a game we will certainly be taking positives from.
