WITH a respite in the weather, the golfers at the Rayleigh based golf and country club were able to let their hair down at the annual presentation dinner.

More than 180 members and guests attended to receive their rewards for the 2008/2009 season.

Preceeding this event the golfers got down to playing the fourball betterball and February Stableford competitions.

Taking the prize in the fourball was the partnership of Richard Kemp and Robert Kingston who were the overall winners ahead of Robert White and Martin Wilcox when both teams came in with 41 pts In third place were John Cosgrove and Peter Marston with 40.

On day one of the Stableford Richard Woodley (5) took the division one title with a score of 41 pts ahead of Jim Prentice (4) who had 37.

Matthew South (12) finished with 35.

The division two title went to Richard Kemp (20), who had 38 pointt with Keith Simpson (15) scoring 37 and in third place Andrew Billington (22) with 36.

On day two it was the turn of Martyn Cockerill (11) who was the overall winner of division one with a score of 39 points, closely followed by Colin Brett (10)who had 38 . Colin Mitchell (8) finished third with a score of 35.

In division two it was Michael Maggs (19) who took the honours with a score of 40 pts ahead of Michael Sewell (28) and Barry Simpson (21) who had 39 and 37 respectively.
