ESSEX Pirates star Taner Adu wants his side to build on last weekend’s win over Plymouth Raiders.

Adu top scored with 25 points for Pirates as they worked their way off the bottom of the BBL standings. And the 25-year-old now wants more of the same against Worcester Wolves on Saturday.

“Winning the game like we did against Plymouth has done us the world of good,” said Adu.

“We played well the night before going there against Everton Tigers as well and probably should have won that one too.

“We were on form for three and a half quarters but had a bad final three or four minutes and it cost us the game which was disappointing because we had worked our way into a good position.

“We recovered well at Plymouth though and for me personally it was also nice to get a few more points.”

Adu remains Pirates’ top points scorer this season and has now netted 361 points for the Southend-based side. The former Manchester Magic man is keen to further enhance that tally this weekend.

But he knows it will not be easy against the in-form Wolves at the Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre, tip off 7.30pm.

“We are excited about this game and the chance to build on beating Plymouth,” said Adu.

“Wolves have done well recently but they have not been together for that long after everything that went on there earlier on in the season when a few of their players left along with the coach.

“They have some good players but I am not sure if they are together as a team yet and we will want to try and test that.”
