Rochford Hundred claimed a crucial win over the only side below them in National One yesterday, beating Welwyn 43-0.
The triumph was also enough to push Rochford out of the bottom two.
Third placed Westcliff were victorious too as they saw off Letchworth Garden City 60-8.
In London Two North East, leaders Thurrock won 55-14 at home to Braintree but in London Three North East promotion chasing Canvey Island were held to a disappointing 22-22 draw with Lowestoft and Yarmouth.
South Woodham Ferrers lost 24-15 at West Norfolk but Basildon won 25-10 at Billericay.
In Essex Two, Pegasus Palmerians triumphed 25-3 at Runwell Wyverns and Stanford le Hope won 15-12 at Writtle Wanderers.
