IT was a case of double delight for Eastwood High and St Thomas More when the Southend Senior Schools’ soccer cup finals were staged.

Eastwood took the year seven prize with a 5-0 win over St Thomas More and also collected glory, although in a much tighter affair, at year 10 level when they needed extra-time to beat Southend High 3-2.

St Thomas More’s two successes were also both by the narrowest of margins.

For both victories they overcame Westcliff High with late goals, taking the year eight final 3-2 and year nine 4-3.

St Thomas More’s hopes of a hat-trick of triumphs was ended when Southend High beat them 1-0 for the year 11 trophy.

The finals again proved to be a great occasion with outstanding team and individual performances.

Thanks were paid to to all the officials and friends and families of the players for their support.

The finals went ahead at the playing fields of Westcliff High, St Thomas More and St Bernard’s.
