SIX rhythmic gymnasts from the Basildon-based South Essex club did well when competing at the Forza International Challenge in Ghent, Belgium. Zoey Broadbent, aged just seven, joined team mates Abbi Bowdidge, Karen Goshen, Nicole Gershtein, Rebecca Wright and Chanelle Ellis in finishing eighth in a highly competitive team competition. The girls were all competing at their first international competition and they did themselves proud. Rebecca and Karen, along with Keira Miller, all qualified to compete at the British Championships to held in July.

Basildon’s South-Essex club international star Brinn Bevan travelled to Widnau, Switzerland to compete in the 15th Rheintal Cup and brought home a silver medal for Great Britain.

The young man always gives 100 per cent and more. His latest success was in the under-16 age group and once again Brinn excelled at an International competition confirming the super talent he is.

In the age eight-nine group, grade 14 saw Jade Woollard victoriously collecting the gold medal, scoring 61.70. Katie Wisbey achieved a silver medal, scoring 61.45. Also competing were Robynne Denham, Isobel Hurdle, Harlie Constantine, Isobelle Wokoma, Kelsey Atkins, Annabel Norton, Maise Roberts, Dacie Loman and Rebecca Manning. Rebecca was awarded the beam trophy after scoring the highest score of the grade.

In the age group 10 plus, Megan Beard received a silver medal with a tremendous score of 59.80.

Grade 13, 9/10 age saw Holly Wisbey pick up a bronze medal scoring 59.65. Other girls competing were Sophie Goodman, Thurrock’s Starr West, Megan Cross, Ania Lathrope and Elie Hall — who all successfully passed.

Age group 11 plus saw Holly Dupree pick up a silver medal with a score of 56.35.

Katie Jeffery achieved a gold medal with a score of 45.60 in grade 10. Sophie Cash, Rebecca Moss, Bella Harris and Georgia Butterworth all took part and successfully passed.

The top three girls from each grade have qualified for regional finals which will be held later this month.
