THREE Rivers’ Rory Dixon earned a place in next month’s prestigious Brabazon Trophy when he won the southern qualifier at Frilford Heath with a five under par 67.
Dixon, a 20-year-old student at the University of Lincoln, will line-up in the star-studded field of top amateurs at Hoylake.
There was home success for Orsett’s Alex Woodward when he won the Threadgill Trophy, an Essex Golf Union order of merit event, but three shots with a two-round 137 total.
Woodward, partnered by Adam Morris (Five Lakes) had been the top pairing when Essex finished third in the Eastern Couinties Foursomes at Seacroft Golf Club.
When Essex lost 5.5-4.5 to Bedfordshire at Upminster, Orsett’s Cliff Keeble had an excellent 6 and 5 success.
