DESPITE suffering from a toe injury, Orsett’s Luke Eggleston finished joint runners-up spot in the first PGA East Region Virgin Atlantic order of merit event of the season, hosted by North Weald GC.
His first round 64 was the best of the 36-hole tournament and, added to a second round 70, saw him on 134 and one stroke behind winner Jason Levermore (Clacton).
Eggleston won £735. Rayleigh Golf Range’s Mark Hooper (67 and 68) plus former Thorpe Hall club champion Brett Taylor, now representing Chelmsford, were among those a further shot back on 135. Taylor shot 66 and 69.
