Basildon based MRO Superteen rider Jesse Jones enjoyed an eventful weekend of racing at the MRO/Bemsee Brands Hatch GP meeting.

Jones dominated qualifying, putting in the only time below the 1.50 mark which put him pole for the weekend’s four races.

And in race one, he continued the great form as he took the lead on lap two after his almost obligatory poor start.

Jones was not able to dominate the race in the same way that he had managed in practice but once out in front he was determined to stay there.

Inevitably the others had different ideas and once again the spectators at the Kent circuit witnessed a great battle among the best junior racers in the UK.

Jones led the tight pack into the last lap with Chrissy Rouse right behind him.

Rouse got great drive down the Paddock Hill and went to the outside of Jones.

Unfortunately he moved across early for a blocking move into Druids Hairpin and slammed into Jones’ front wheel.

This ripped the Basildon youngster’s bars out of his hands and sent him tumbling to the tarmac at around 90 mph.

The race was stopped instantly and the marshalls and medics were quickly on the scene.

But, after a visit to the medical centre, Jones walked away with only a cut to his chin and a bruised coccyx.

The race was counted back a lap but under ACU rules if you are not running when it is stopped you are out of the final results. This left a very apologetic Rouse first.

Jones was forced to sit out the second race of the day as Rouse again took top spot.

However, the following day, a very stiff and sore Jones was raring to go again and lined up on his pole position.

A better start saw him right in the mix as the top four pulled a gap on the rest of the pack.

As the race wore on the adrenalin subsided and the pain kicked in.

This, along with a bike that was not quite right, saw Jones wisely settle for fourth place.

Last race of the weekend saw Jesse make a really bad start which left him having to work his way through quite a few riders in order to get on terms with the front pack. He quickly caught the group and this quartet spent the next seven laps entertaining the large crowd that had gathered in the May sunshine.

At races end a mere six tenths of a second covered Rouse, Mountain, Phillip and Jones.

The next round is yet another new track for Jones, Silverstone where the MRO Superteens will be battling out their fifth round.
