PAUL Benson will achieve a life-long ambition when he walks out at Wembley this weekend.

But the Dagenham and Redbridge striker will only be fully satisfied by winning promotion.

Benson, who just five years ago was playing in the Essex Olympian League with White Ensign, has bagged 21 goals this season to fire his side in to the League Two play off final against Rotherham United.

And he remains focused on firing Daggers in to League One on Sunday.

“It has always been my dream to play at Wembley but we have to remain focused on the game and winning promotion,” said Benson.

“That’s what matters most and the gaffer has been great in making sure we keep concentrated.

“But of course playing there is going to be special. I haven’t even been to Wembley since it was done up and I only went once before that to watch England play Brazil once so I can’t wait to get out there on Sunday.

“When I was younger I used to go over the park and imagine I was playing at Wembley.

“Scoring in the FA Cup final was what I always thought of but unfortunately that will never happen so this game is going to be my FA Cup final.”

Benson, who will be roared on by a number of friends and family at the final, scored in both legs of Dagenham’s semi final triumph over Morecambe as they went through 7-2 on aggregate.

But the game this weekend promises to be a much tighter encounter.

Rotherham finished fifth in the League Two table, two places higher than Daggers.

And they also won both of their matches against the Essex side this season.

“Rotherham are certainly a very strong team,” said Benson.

“The fact that they have beaten us twice this season fires me up even more because we know we have to play well.

“Opportunities don't come around like this all the time.

“But you can't spend all week thinking about the game because it won't do you any good.

"It is a massive game but it's also just another game, you can't look at it any other way."
