ROBERT Foster-Jones is ninth in the Formula Renault standings heading into the final two races of the season.

The Thorpe Bay driver was unable to repeat his race-winning form of Knockhill at Silverstone, but still turned in two solid performances.

The first race saw the 19-year-old CRS team driver finish eighth after 12 laps of the full-length Grand Prix circuit at the Northamptonshire track.

He clocked 26:02.946 to finish 15.211 seconds behind Lewis Williamson, who led from pole to chequered flag.

The second race saw Foster-Jones finish in 12th place after completing all 13 laps in a time of 26:49.084.

That saw him 18.479 seconds behind Manor Competition driver Williamson, who made it a double with another pole to flag victory.

Former Shoeburyness High School pupil Foster-Jones, who is in his first year of single-seater racing after graduating from karts, got 14 points from the first race and nine from the second.

That leaves him in ninth place in the standings with 226 points.

Tom Blomqvist is leading the drivers’ championship with 436 points after two second places at Silverstone, while Williamson’s 64-point haul elevated him to second place.

Foster-Jones’s CRS team are fourth in the entrants’ table with 606 points, with Manor Competition leading the way with 873.

The Formula Renault season reaches its climax at Kent’s Brands Hatch with the final two rounds on October 9 and 10.
