BLUES boss Paul Sturrock has admitted it will not be easy to attract the kind of striker his side requires.

The Scotsman knows his side are crying out for another forward.

But he also realises proven goalscorers are in short supply.

“I’m sure everyone walked away from the game with Morecambe on Saturday saying ‘we need a striker, we need a striker’, but they don’t just go on trees,” said the 53-year-old former Plymouth Argyle chief.

“You also look in the Conference and one team just sold a striker to another Conference club for £275,000 which is an expense we couldn’t afford at this time.

“There used to be a bit of pinching from that level going on, but that isn’t the case any more, so it is difficult,” Sturrock admitted.

Barry Corr, with three goals, is Blues’ highest scoring striker this season and Sturrock also has Matt Paterson, his son Blair and Scott Spencer as alternative options in attack and they will be pushing for places in attack when Blues head to Hereford United on Saturday.

Sturrock can only bolster his squad with loan signings before the transfer window re-opens in January.
