GIRLS from the South Essex Gymnastics Club took home nine medals and team trophies from a competition in Bury.

The Basildon club sent two teams and four pairs to the tournament earlier this month.

In the level five team competition, Sophie Goodman, Holly Wisbey, Maney Easen, Charlotte Fink and reserve Zoe Langford finished with silver; their 138.25 score was just 0.1 behind the winning team. Individually, Marney came second and Charlotte third.

The advanced novice team of Devon Allen, Erin Bellman, Abby Forkner, Tegan Rees and reserve Kerry King as the reserve, went one better by winning gold after managing a four-mark lead over the second-placed team.

Erin Bellman won the individual competition, and Devon Allen came second.

In the pairs, Georgia Butterworth and Rebecca Moss took the gold, and Alyssa Sumun and Michaela Lee silver. Isobelle Ager and Bella Harris, and Katie Jeffery and Sophie Cash also performed well in the pairs.

>At the Alpha factor competition the Cranes Farm Road club was represented by Ellie Reynolds and Josephine Tang.

Ellie competed well on both the floor, vault, and bars to finish in second place.

Josephine had a brilliant day and was the overall winner, and finished second on the on beam.
