LOW atmospheric pressure contributed to a good week for anglers at Aquatels.

Lake regular Mark Smith excelled with four carp from the beach — a 15lb mirror, 23lb 8oz ghostie, the “Barnacle” at 27lb 8oz and, the icing on the cake, the carp known as the “Peach” at 33lb.

Korda-sponsored angler Joe Atkinson also helped himself to four fish, a 21lb 6oz mirror, two ghosties at 16lb, and the highly sought after “Drop Scale” which was an Aquatels personal best for Joe at 30lb 7oz.

Bailiff Perry Skelton continued his successful run with a mirror of 15lb 11oz, and Rickie Parks had three carp, the best of which was a personal best 27lb common.

Head bailiff Tony Cousins caught three fish during a three-hour session on Sunday morning, including the lake’s only leather carp at 18lb 6oz.

It is the fourth time Tony has banked the leather in the past three years and each time it has been virtually the same weight.

New boy Dean Perryment continued his successful run with “Dave” a ghostie at 29lb 7oz.

And Andrew Mckay, who is hearing impaired, tested the duck boards by landing a ghostie of 29lb 4oz.

Dan Flexton, on a day ticket, caught 26lb 6oz from the Oaks, and Marc Mitchel took a 30 unmarked small common of just 10lb.

Pike have been showing with several reported captures, the best at 16lb 8oz.

Anglers are advised that with the darker mornings the gates will not open until 7am.
